Leon Theremin with his invention the Theremin (1928). It was one of the first electronic musical instruments and the first instrument that could be played without touching, using subtle hand movements within an electromagnetic field. He was a Russian scientist and had a fascinating life (but not always a good one). I love the huge speaker - a tenuous link to Art Deco!
